1.The Association shall be called  “Past Pupils’Association, Cavan Royal School”

2.Objects

The objects of The Past Pupils’ Association are

  1. To maintain and strengthen communication between past pupils of The Royal School Cavan.
  2. To foster good communication between past pupils and the school
  3. To promote the interests and welfare of the school

 

3. Membership

All past pupils of the Royal School shall be eligible for membership

Honorary membership of the Association shall be at the discretion of the committee 

Application for membership shall be made to the secretary

Application forms are available from the school website or from any committee member

4. Officers and Committee

The Officers of the Association shall comprise: President, Deputy President, Hon. Treasurer, Hon. Secretary, Public Relations Officer and a further four committee members. The new committee assumes office at the end of the AGM.

The Headmaster /Headmistress shall be an honorary member of the committee

All officers shall be elected annually. Gender balance is encouraged within the committee membership and it is desirable that the deputy president becomes president at the end of each presidency. The office of president and deputy president should always reflect gender balance. The president and deputy president may only hold the same office for a maximum of three consecutive years. After a lapse of three years they are again eligible for election. No more than two siblings may serve on committee simultaneously.  Committee meetings shall be held as often as determined by the committee.

5. Meetings

Committee members should attend all meetings but those who fail to attend three consecutive committee meetings shall have their committee membership terminated unless the committee considers the circumstance exceptional. A quorum of six shall be required in order to proceed with a committee meeting. Committee vacancies may be filled by co-option.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

The Annual General Meeting (AGM) shall be held in November/December each year. An AGM must have a minimum attendance of ten past pupils of the Royal School, Cavan. An emergency General Meeting (EGM) may only be convened by giving notice to the secretary 30 days before the chosen date. It cannot be called unless requested by no fewer than thirty members. The committee must deem the calling of an EGM necessary and any request for such a meeting must be given in writing to the secretary. The reason for such a request must be clearly stated.

6. Finance

The annual subscription for membership of the Association shall be €10. This amount may be amended at the AGM. All subscriptions shall be payable on or before 1 March. If a member’s subscription is more than three months in arrears, membership shall cease.

The committee shall approve all financial transactions

The Hon. Treasurer shall, at the end of each year, prepare a financial statement and the Hon. Secretary shall prepare a Report of the proceedings during the year. Persons not on the committee should audit the financial statement. The statement should be approved by the committee prior to circulation to members and presentation at the AGM.

 7. Register

The Hon. Secretary shall keep a register of the names of all members and the date of his or her association with the school.

8. Alteration of Constitution

This constitution shall only be amended at a General Meeting and must be approved by a minimum of 51% of those members present and voting. Any amendment proposal should be submitted to the secretary at least thirty days prior to the date of the AGM.
